Beech Mountain, North Carolina. One of the most popular activities is skiing or snowboarding. If you don’t know how, you can get lessons right there on the mountain. You could practice on the bunny hill and once you perfect your methods you can move on over to the chairlift to try another path down the mountain. If you’ve had your fill of the outside cold you can sit back and relax inside and take a look around. If your body is tired then you can go ice skating, they even offer it late at night. There are other things to do in North Carolina’s coolest town. There is a sledding hill that’s public and free, there’s also Fred’s mercantile where you can get breakfast or pick up some supplies and the famous brick oven pizza, there’s great pizza to be had but also the desserts are to die for. You can head back into town and check out the History Center, learn all about each Mountain and The Wizard of Oz. Also you can head on over to Grandfather Mountain which is considered the top destination for North Carolina mostly because it offers such incredible views. There’s the swinging bridge there which really doesn’t swing anymore, it’s been replaced with a steel bridge although you’re still a mile up and it can be scary but the views make it worth it. Grandfather Mountain is a must-see if you’re in the area, not just because of the views but also because of the animal sanctuary at the bottom. The Beech Mountain, North Carolina whole region is ideal for family fun.

Boone, North Carolina is located in the northwest corner of North Carolina. Boone is bursting with natural beauty, outdoor activities for the whole family, downtown delicious meals and just enough history and arts to keep you coming back for more. It’s close to numerous airports in the state as well as in neighboring Tennessee, the closest being the tri-cities Regional Airport in nearby Blountville, just a 45 mile drive from Boone. A little tip for you is that you do not need a car if you are going downtown, it’s totally walkable and you’ll find restaurants, shops and galleries. The town of Boone is named after that famous frontiersman Daniel Boone, he’s not from there but he did camp there and that pioneering spirit lives on today and that spirit comes alive at horn in the West. It is this nation’s longest-running Revolutionary War outdoor drama this show brings to life, the story of hearty pioneers who with the help of frontiersman Daniel Boone and Cherokee allies settled in the Blue Ridge wilderness, as they sought freedom from British tyranny. When you visit Boone, you will quickly learn that it’s a pretty cool progressive little town but they’ve never forgotten their history. Looking for the Mass General Store, stepping inside is like stepping back to a simpler time, it’s on the Register of Historic Places and today still serves the residents of Boone’s as it has done for more than 80 years. One of the places you have to include on your itinerary is Farm Cafe, they serve fresh meals with locally sourced ingredients and their coffee is pretty good too, this is just one of many culinary examples from this charming area. You’ll be thrilled at the diversity and the flavors, there’s no doubt about it. Boone offers some of the most spectacular views you’ll ever see and if you love hiking, camping or just enjoying nature’s beauty then take the short drive to Grandfather Mountain, it is definitely the mother of all mountains.
