This post is going to be about the best towns on the Oregon coast. There’s a wide range in terms of what’s offered, but these particular towns have been especially picked, these are pretty magical places.

Number one on this list is one of the most popular towns on the Oregon Coast, Cannon Beach. It is a really quick drive from Portland, so if you are thinking about moving to the Oregon Coast and you are considering a town that has close proximity to a large population center like Portland, Cannon Beach is definitely going to be a spot for you. It brings people from all over the state and all over the country and once you get a little bit of a taste of Cannon Beach, you can definitely see why it has some of the best restaurants on the Oregon Coast. Great shops, bookstores, antique shops and art galleries. There are also bars, breweries and a few wine tasting rooms. No matter what kind of activities you’re into and how you would choose to spend your time either on vacation or actually live there, Cannon Beach has something to offer for everybody. It is a small town and you can feel it that way, but at the same time you’re getting so many people passing through that it always kind of keeps things interesting. The beach goes as far as the eye can see in both directions, and it’s a great place to spend an afternoon, to go on a walk, or go for a little jog in the morning or catch a sunset in the evening.

Number two, Rockaway Beach. There’s usually a lot of people down there having a good time and there’s tons of driftwood, so if you like collecting the driftwood, making a bonfire, spending a few hours on the beach just hanging out, drinking a couple beers, eating some dinner, or having a picnic, whatever you’re into, Rockaway Beach provides the perfect spot for it. The communities in Rockaway, the houses are little beach shanties, shacks and cabins. There’s nothing lavish or extravagant about it, it’s just a great family-friendly town. If you like these kinds of places, it would be a perfect place for vacationing or spending a weekend, just because it’s so simple and easy and the beaches are great.

Number three, Oceanside. Oceanside is definitely a hidden gem on the Oregon Coast. The beach is great right there and up on the hillside there’s these awesome beach houses, a perfect pristine picture. They got everything you could want in a beach house, compared to all of the options that the Oregon Coast offers. A lot of these are vacation homes and second homes, not a lot of full-time residents, but even if you were thinking about relocating to the Oregon Coast, Oceanside would be a great spot. It’s very secluded but also it’s very close to a place like Tillamook, which really has everything you need as far as grocery shopping and other kinds of supplies go.

Number four, Yachats. It does have some notoriety, actually some national notoriety. It is one of the best coastal towns in the country, but when you’re there you wouldn’t think of it. It’s definitely kind of bustling with tourists and people walking up and down the street, it’s really just one main drag, so it’s definitely among the smaller towns on the coast. But the rock formation, the views and just kind of the geology of it, the way the river comes out and the way the town is situated, it just makes for a unique feel. Also It is rich with Native American history. Yachats is one of the smallest towns, definitely not a population center on the Oregon Coast. But if you are looking for a place that provides a little more peace and quiet, definitely a unique landscape and still close to everything, Yachats is definitely a place to check out.

Number five on the list is Bandon. Bandon is actually an international destination for the golf resort located there. There are six world-class golf courses on this piece of property, just north of town at the Bandon Dunes Golf Resort. You get people flying in from all around the country and all around the world to play golf there. Some of these courses have been ranked top 10 in the world, so if you’re a golf enthusiast Bandon would definitely be a place to check out. If you are thinking about moving there or buying a vacation house there, the town itself is awesome. The downtown has that very quaint prototypical Oregon Coast beach town downtown area, with antique shops and some nice restaurants and bars. It’s also very clean, very well organized, you’re going to have a lot of houses up on the hillside that just overlook the ocean with gorgeous views unlike anything else that you’ve ever seen. To wake up to that every day would make it a pretty special place to live in.
