How to safely fly your pet when moving.

Having to send your sweet baby on an airplane all by itself may seem scary and overwhelming, but it’s comforting to know that it’s actually easier than you realize. Airlines don’t want sick dogs traveling on their airplanes, so you’ll need to start with a vet visit. Your trusted veterinarian will give your dog a physical and issue you a health certificate for travel, also known as a travel certificate which is valid for ten days. The next step is to purchase your travel crate and feeding dishes that airlines require. Many pet stores may carry these items, or you can always go on Amazon. The crate must be hard sighted and have open air ventilation on all four sides, it must also be large enough for the dog to stand and be able to turn around, without his ears or tail touching the top or sides.
Once you are ready to book the flight, be ready with pen and paper when you call and also have the name, phone number and address of the person picking up. Submit the following four items to the airline’s online por, a scanned copy of the sign “pet-safe”, customer acknowledgement form, a scanned copy of your pet’s health certificate, a digital photo of your pet clearly showing their face to verify the breed and a digital photo of your pets travel crate to verify compliance with pet safe scraped requirements. Make sure to put your flight number on all correspondence. On the day of travel, prepare the crate with fresh shredded bedding material, fill a zip-lock bag with it’s food, attach the empty water and food bowls into the inside of the crate. Take all the paperwork with you to the airport, the health certificate, the reservation printout, the customer acknowledgment form and don’t forget to print out his photo. Airline might want you to arrive two hours before your flight, they’ll attach the food bag to the top of the crate and they’ll also have you fill out some more paperwork. The airline will feed and water it along the journey and if you’re wondering, the cargo hold is essentially the same as the passenger compartment. On an airplane the entire airplane is pressurized in a climate-controlled environment, so your dog will be safe and comfortable.
The person picking up the dog will have to have a valid ID which matches the reservation. Also please make sure to note where the pickup location is, as some airports have offsite cargo departments.
